BIO
Hector Rivas is a stand-up comedian from Venezuela based in Vancouver, Canada. Since he was a child, his dream was to be an astronaut. That didn't work out for him, because Houston isn't in Venezuela.
With his dreams crushed, Hector became a hospital clown, improv actor, and stand-up comedian in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas. When Hector was 24, he travelled to Canada to do comedy in the city of Vancouver.
So far in Vancouver, Hector was part of the Yuk Yuk's Fast Track program 2016 and showcased for Mark Breslin ( Comedian and brand's co-owner) later that year. In 2016, 2018 and 2019 he got through to the semifinals of the Yuk Off Comedy competition.
In 2018 he opened for the local Canadian comic, Byron Bertran in Vancouver for his tour Guilt Ridden Sociopath, won the Chilliwack comedy competition in 2019 and made his first appearance on the screen on the short film Pluto directed by the Canadian comic and filmmaker Larke Miller in 2019. He’s also open for comedian Ed Hill’s northwest tour in 2021. Hector has been featured as comic of the month in the Vancouver guardian. He currently runs a weekly show called The Cartel held at Mangos Kitchen Bar in downtown Vancouver as well a s hosts and performs on a daily basis in the lower mainland.
Hector's unique take on the world combined with his high-octane physical style of comedy means that he’s been a big hit on the Canadian comedy scene.
